About The Gallery

The Weigh Ahead Gallery is tucked away above the Weigh Ahead waste-free community shop and social enterprise in the village of Dunblane.  An inspiring space overlooking the UNESCO cathedral, the gallery aims to be a meeting place connecting local artists, a variety of art and crafts with the community both in Dunblane and beyond. The Weigh Ahead Gallery showcases local and national contemporary artists, from recent graduates and emerging artists to more established names, with work available across a range of prices. We also host workshops and events to encourage creativity and foster the development of new skills within the local community. Take a look at the work of our artists and craftspeople and check out our upcoming events.

We look forward to welcoming you soon!
Matt & Rosie

Meet the Team

ROSIE HUNTER
Director, Weigh Ahead Gallery

Rosie Hunter opened the doors to the Weigh Ahead community and refill shop in Dunblane back in 2019, giving up her job as a chartered financial planner and combining her dream to run a shop with her passion for more sustainable living. A social enterprise and living wage employer, Rosie and her team have built a loyal customer base and become a valued community meeting place. In 2021 Rosie decided to convert the space above the shop into a space where local artists and craftspeople can display their work and members of the community can unleash their creativity and learn new skills. The Weigh Ahead Gallery was born: a space to display art collections and organize inspiring workshops throughout the year.

MATT BRAY
Curator, Weigh Ahead Gallery

The story of Matt and Rosie are in some ways similar – Matt Bray quit the financial world and at the age of 30 leaving behind his steady job in a bank to follow his passion and study art, graduating in 2012 with a MA and BA in fine art from the University of Kent. Since then Matt has been a practicing contemporary artist and curator and now lives with his family in Scotland where he works on new ideas and projects in his studio in Edinburgh. Matt shies away from the crowds and limelight but he loves to connect and collaborate with other artists in the local community to discuss ideas and talk about art. He’s delighted to take on the role of curator at the Weigh Ahead gallery.
